Luftbild Nordstrand, Hafen Strucklahnungshoern, Faehranleger | Nordsee, Nordstrand, Hafen Strucklahnungshoern - Von Strand blieben nur die Inseln Nordstrand und Pellworm sowie die Hallig Nordstrandischmoor übrig. Die Überlebenden waren wirtschaftlich ruiniert und konnten die Insel nicht wieder eindeichen; das Land lag über 20 Jahre ohne Schutz und wurde von der Nordsee immer wieder überspült. Die Insulaner bauten ihre Höfe auf Warften, um sich vor den Fluten zu schützen, und lebten in einer halligähnlichen Situation.
